Aims and description: During a series of workshops two school pedagouges discussed with the students changes which take place in our bodies during pubescence. They described the phisical and mental transformation which all the teenagers undergo. Students learned how to observe and accept the proces of turning into adults. The workshops included also discussing eating disorders. The most often occuring causes, symptoms, stages and ways of treating of anorexia and bulimia were presented. Students gained knowledge by being involved in discussions, role playing or brainstorming. The aim of the classes was students’ empowerment in dealing with pressure of appearance-oriented culture and overcoming a focus on food and weight. The second part of the series addressed the issue of AIDS. Again, students learned about the ways of contracting a HIV virus, methods of avoiding that, next – indications of the disease. Special attention was paid to safe sex rules and assertive behaviour as far as sex issueas are concerned. After the worksshops students took part in the knowledge about AIDS contest and they made posters warning against catching the virus.
